DURHAM, N.C â€“ 91ÉçÇø¸£Àû’s Scholars in Marine Medicine program, which offers an interdisciplinary research experience for pre-health majors interested in marine biology or environmental science, recently announced three new members.

The program, which launched this fall, allows students to take part in faculty-mentored research and gain valuable scientific training as they work toward completing a senior honors thesis and receiving Graduation with Distinction honors. Students also receive funding for travel to conferences, classes and other professional development activities.

Scholars in Marine Medicine will spend at least one semester at the 91ÉçÇø¸£Àû Marine Lab campus in Beaufort, N.C., and one or more semesters at the 91ÉçÇø¸£Àû Medical Center in Durham.

The new Scholars in Marine Medicine are:

Duke seniors Serene Cheng and Parker Matthews as well as junior Maya Sheth were part of the inaugural cohort announced in August.
