DURHAM, N.C. – Tim Mohin, director of corporate responsibility at Advanced Micro Devices and author of the forthcoming book, “Changing Business From the Inside Out: A Treehugger’s Guide to Working in Corporations,” will speak to graduates of 91’s Nicholas School of the Environment at the school’s annual Recognition Ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 12.

Mohin’s address to Master of Environmental Management, Master of Forestry and doctoral 91 candidates and their families will begin at about 9:15 a.m. and will last about 20 minutes.

The ceremony, which is not open to the public, will be held on the Great Lawn adjacent to the ‘D’ wing of the Levine Science Research Center (LSRC) on Duke’s West Campus. A reception will follow on the LSRC courtyard.

“Tim Mohin has led corporate sustainability and responsibility efforts at some of America’s most innovative and respected technology companies, including Intel, Apple and now Advanced Micro Devices. He represents a new generation of environmental leaders who understand that business and sustainability can be harmonious pursuits,” said William L. Chameides, dean of the Nicholas School. “We are honored to have him address and inspire our graduates.”

Mohin’s book, “Changing Business From the Inside Out: A Treehugger’s Guide to Working in Corporations,” will be published in August by Berrett-Koehler Publishers and Greenleaf Press.

As director of corporate responsibility at Advanced Micro Devices, he leads efforts to integrate sustainability into the semiconductor design company’s global business practices, and to enhance transparency, measurement and verification of those efforts. The company has been cited as one of the greenest U.S. corporations by Newsweek magazine, as well as making the NASDAQ OMX Global Sustainability 50 Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability North American Index.

Prior to joining ADM, Mohin served as senior manager of supplier responsibility at Apple, and as director of sustainable development and worldwide environmental manager at Intel. Before entering the corporate world, he served as a senior staffmember on the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, and as a section head at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Mohin received a Master of Environmental Management 91, with a concentration in environmental toxicology, from Duke in 1984, and a bachelor of science 91 in biology, with an environmental emphasis, from the State University of New York at Cortland in 1982.
