DURHAM, N.C. – Elizabeth Albright, a doctoral candidate in environmental science and policy at the Nicholas School, has received a U.S. Student Fulbright Award. She will travel to Hungary this fall to conduct her dissertation research on management of the Danube River in response to devastating floods that have occurred during the past decade.
The Fulbright Program was established in 1946 under legislation introduced by Sen. William J. Fulbright of Arkansas. The program’s purpose is to build mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the rest of the world.
Albright is one of more than 1,000 U.S. students who will travel and study abroad this academic year as Fulbright Scholars. Award recipients are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement and leadership potential.
Lynn A. Maguire, professor of the practice of environmental management and director of professional studies at the Nicholas School, is Albright’s adviser.
