How did your master's 91社区福利 shape your career trajectory, long-term goals and opportunities?
I would not be where I am today without the Nicholas School and Duke. It was during my first semester when I became fascinated by the science of climate change and the way our growing population shapes the planet. It was in [former assistant dean and director of the Career & Professional Development Center] Karen Kirchof鈥檚 office that I was introduced to fellow alum Kathryn Burch, thus making a critical connection that landed me my first post-MEM job in consulting. And it is through the trajectories of my dear friends, now colleagues, that I met at the Nicholas School, that I remain inspired and in awe of the meaningful and extraordinary careers we now have.
What skills or experiences did you gain at Duke that have been most beneficial in your professional life?
Analytical skills, the need to research and constantly ask questions, and how to build professional networks and relationships.
Why did you choose Duke? What advice would you give to students considering or currently in the program?
The visitation day sticks out in my mind. I met very engaging professors and felt a kinship with the other accepted students that I met. The Nicholas School had a palpable energy, and enthusiasm for the environment shone through every conversation and corner. I also felt that the alumni network could not be matched, critical for someone thinking hard about post-graduation career prospects. The chance of attending a game at Cameron Indoor Stadium was pretty good incentive as well!
What is your favorite memory from your time as a student at Duke?
My Master's Project, campout [for men's basketball season tickets], incredible friendships, regression labs, Forum events, and inspiring professors. Too many things to name!
