Message to the Nicholas School Community from Dean Jeff Vincent
Dear NSOE faculty,
I am attempting to reach out individually to all of our Muslim students, as I expect they are distressed by Trump’s Executive Order to suspend visas and other immigration benefits, even if they are not nationals of the seven countries targeted (Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Libya, Somalia). I know some of our Muslim students, but surely not all of them. Please feel free to recommend students that I should reach out to. For that matter, feel free to recommend postdocs and staff members too.
Related, you might have heard of an open letter protesting the Executive Order, which has been signed by more than 6,000 academics, including many Nobel Laureates, Fields Medalists, and Members of the National Academies of Science and Engineering. If you are interested in learning more about the letter, please visit: . The decision to sign is a matter of individual choice. I tend not to sign open letters, but I signed this one.
Thank you,
Jeffrey R. Vincent
