- MEM Environment Concentration: Ecotoxicology and Environmental Health (EEH)
- MEM Management Concentration: Environmental Analytics and Modeling (EAM)
- Expected Graduation Date: May 2026
What is your previous work experience, if any? Please describe briefly.
During my undergrad, I worked as a researcher in multiple oceanographic laboratories. My work included investigating the phase equilibrium of oil in chemically enhanced seawater over time and the acclimation abilities of kelp to different spectra and intensities of light. I also volunteered with grassroots climate justice movements to lobby our municipal government on climate action.
Why did you choose the Nicholas School's professional master's 91ÉçÇø¸£Àû program(s)?
I developed an strong interest in environmental chemistry and analytical methods during my studies and my time as a researcher. The MEM allows me to explore these interdisciplinary interests. I was also swayed by the flexibility of the 91ÉçÇø¸£Àû and the practicality of the skills I would gain in the EEH and EAM streams.
Do you have any areas of interest or special focus you plan to undertake during your time at the Nicholas School and Duke?
I am interested in how analytical tools can be used to advocate for and address climate concerns. I hope to explore how ecological forecasting and spatial management tools can be used on a variety of scales to address political, ecological, and toxicological questions.
What are your career aspirations?
After graduation, I want to work with data analytics in the marine or environmental chemistry sector. I hope to conduct work that informs climate policy or conservation management. I look forward to opportunities with an interconnected, international outlook.
